Special Traits

Burned and Blind

After his experience with the five-tailed bijuu, Kizuato has been left blind due to severe burns on his upper face. He has had twelve years to learn to deal with his blindness, and being cunning and resourceful, Kizuato has learned to write without the use of his eyes, although he must still have the help of others to read. He can fight and draw out fuuinjutsu seals without his eyes as well, and the seals always appear masterfully crafted.

Although Kizu is still an extremely powerful ninja despite his blindness, it can be easy to tell that he's blind just by watching how he reacts. He does not react to sights, but only sounds, smells, and other such senses. This means he doesn't dodge a kunai until he can hear it whistling through the air, he keeps his feet planted to the ground to feel the vibrations of approaching enemies, and other such things.

Enhanced Senses

The Kekkai Genkai of Kizu's clan already gives him naturally improved senses. It also allows Kizuato to switch the chakra lines in his body that connect to his senses, thus allowing him to focus chakra to particular senses. Although his eyes have been burned out and he is blind, his chakra lines still naturally run to his eyes. By diverting all the chakra that would normally go to his useless eyes to his other senses, Kizuato can enhance them to a much higher level.

Shrewd Negotiator

A brilliant tactician and diplomat, Kizuato almost always gets the results he wants from any negotiation. His unbreakable poker face and distant gaze make it impossible to tell whether what you say is actually affecting him. And his charm and wit allow him to snag you up in a series of words that ultimately just get him what he desires.

Slippery as a Snake

You can't break Kizuato through torture and interrogation. Unlike most unbreakable people, though, he doesn't sit there resiliently and ignore the pain. Rather, he slips and slides around questions and uses his amazing talent at lying to fool whoever he's facing. Kizuato can play word games that end up breaking the will of his captors, rather than them breaking his will. Irony.

Eidetic Memory

Similar to photographic memory, eidetic memory means a person completely and flawlessly memorizes anything he or she hears. Kizuato has an eidetic memory, though he also memorizes other sensations quite easily, including taste, touch, and smell. This allows him to easily identify familiar things as well as debates or conversations he's been in or overheard; a rather useful talent for a leader.

Crimson Ink

Kizuato uses his blood as his ink for Fuuinjutsu. By focusing his chakra in his blood, Kizu can change the consistency of the blood to make it thicker and to allow it to act as a better ink. After he enhances his blood, it doesn't splatter or smear, but rather adheres to surfaces near perfectly, making it an excellent ink.

Seals of Power

Painted on Kizuato's body are several seals that both increase and decrease his power. Most of the seals he invented himself. Kizuato bears the Jiman no Shinboru on his left shoulder, and the Sonkei no Shinboru on his right shoulder. On his back he has a Chakra no Sooko no Shinboru. On each side of his stomach is a Jakuten no Shinboru, which he releases in times of need to increase his speed and power. When going into extremely difficult battles, Kizuato paints additional seals on himself, despite the extra stress they cause on his body. For more information on the seals, check Kizuato's Fuuinjutsu section.

Rank Information

Rank Tsuchikage

Village Iwagakure

Skill Information

Skill Speciality

Main - Ninjutsu

Sub - Fuuinjutsu

Elemental Affinity

Doton - This is Kizuato’s natural element, the one he is proficient in because of years of practice.

Katon - This is the element Kizuato gained the ability to manipulate after contact with the 5-tailed bijuu; the contact left his soul permanently tainted by fire.

Styles

Bloody Palms Style

Type Fuuinjutsu

Rank S

Element N/A

Description Bloody Palms style is Kizuato’s unique Fuuinjutsu style that enables him to quickly and easily perform seals on difficult opponents. When in need, Kizuato can divert a small amount of chakra to his hands, causing the pores on his hands to leak blood. He can then use his blood as an ink for his seals.

Beyond that, this style also allows Kizuato to perform seals without actually touching his opponent. By flicking his hands in the right direction and combination, Kizuato can flick the enemy with blood to form intricate seals that would normally have to be drawn by hand. This allows Kizuato to create the seals from as far as a few feet away, thus making it unneccesary to enter direct combat with his foe.

Phoenix Body Style

Type N/A

Rank S

Element Katon

Description This style is unique to Kizuato and would be impossible for another person ro replicate. After contact with the 5-tailed Bijuu, Kizuato was permanently altered. He can now manipulate his chakra to form a shield of intense fire around himself that ranges in color from red to gold. The flames do not burn Kizuato, his clothing, or any of his allies. Rather, they only burn the people he wants them to burn.

The fire acts as a shield, allowing Kizuato to keep enemies away. While the fire is active, Kizuato’s wounds also begin to rapidly heal. Very deep wounds don’t heal very quickly at all, and usually only close up enough to prevent further bleeding, but cuts and bruises heal within seconds. Kizuato can not use his blood for Fuuinjutsu while this style is active because his blood quickly evaporates in the flames.

Infinite Summons Style

Type Ninjutsu

Rank A

Element N/A

Description By intricately linking the flow of chakra between his summons and himself, Kizuato can sustain a greater numer of summons at a time than most ninja, even other ones as powerful as himself. This allows Kizuato to create larger swarms of summons to divert attention away from himself or allies. The intricate network allows Kizuato to bolster his summons at will by sacrificing his own chakra, but can cause them to share pain and damage if the links are created too strong.

Weapons

Tochori, the Chain Whip

Appearance Kizuato’s chain whip is a long series of linked chains that is about 18 feet in total length, making it just a bit longer than a normal whip. Many of the chains are studded with small spikes that make the whip more lethal, and hundreds of tiny holes are drilled throughout the length of the whip. Running through the core of each linked chain is an extremely flammable material. When Kizuato activates his Phoenix Body style or focuses his chakra into the whip, he can ignite it along its length. The fire streams out of the hundreds of tiny holes, and the fire courses through the length of the chain because each link is connected in an extremely intricate way that still allows motion while connecting it to the adjacent links.

Rank B

Special Abilities The flammable core can be activated to cause the length of the whip to light up, thus making it an extremely lethal chain whip, since it can be both spiked and flaming.

Origin Given to him by the last Tsuchikage, Tochori was prized greatly by Kizuato. He used it frequently, though the whip was not flammable at the time. After his battle with the bijuu and the awakening of his inner fire, Kizuato had a narrow portion of the core of the chain hollowed out and filled with an extremely flammable substance, so that he could manipulate it to his desires. Because the flammable substance is limited inside the whip, Kizuato often has to refill it.

Studded Gloves

Appearance Kizuato’s gloves are seemingly normal brown gloves that cover his hands. The brown color of the gloves is slightly faded from years of use. The fingertips are cut off, but that is the only apparent irregularity. Looking more closely, though, one would notice that each glove is coated with hundreds of tiny metal studs that are extremely difficult to see because they are painted brown to match the gloves. Each stud is extremely small and juts out sharply from the glove, making even a simple punch potentially lethal to a lesser ninja.

Rank C

Special Abilities There is nothing extremely special about these gloves. The studs are capable of puncturing, ripping, and cutting, thus making them dangerous.

Origin Almost ten years ago, Kizuato realized that he needed something to give him a competitive advantage in close combat. Having no real taijutsu skill, Kizuato needed an easy to use weapon that could keep him from being helpless in direct combat against foes of a similar strength. So he went to some of Iwagakure’s most skillful smiths and had them craft him sever hundred tiny metal studs. Then he took the studs and his gloves to a skilled leatherworker to have the studs embedded in the gloves. He dons them whenever he might get involved in a fight, which is quite frequently.

History

Spoiler:

Kizuato’s father was born to a rather poor family in Iwagakure. He entered the ninja academy at six years and excelled from the beginning. He quickly surpassed his classmates, despite the fact that Iwagakure’s standards were difficult and rigorous. He graduated slightly early at 10 years old and serviced his country as a shinobi without fault. He was often entrusted with difficult missions that would normally be deemed inappropriate for a ninja his age or rank. He gained the attention and admiration of his peers from a very young age, and became a chunnin at 13, and a jounin at 17. His name was Yukido.

His mother was born under much different circumstances. She was born into a family of wealth and had no reason to lower herself with work. Being the daughter of an important woman in Iwagakure, Kizu’s mother constantly strived to better herself through books and learning. She often enjoyed the company of shinobi, especially since she was generally assigned one or two shinobi to be her bodyguards at all times. Her name was Nozomu, though most people called her Nozu.

And so it was like this that Yukido and Nozu met. When Yukido was 15 years old and Nozu was 12, he was assigned to escort her to a few rural villages in the Earth Country, in which Nozu would be giving speeches to raise morale. It was during this time that Nozu developed a fledgeling crush on Yukido. Yukido felt only a little for the girl he was escorting; his focus was almost always on his job as a shinobi, and nothing beyond. Still, what little he felt was enough to kick off a start for a budding romance between the two.

However, their romance would be quickly smothered. When Nozu returned home, she tried to hide Yukido’s growing intentions toward her from her family, but she was unsuccessful. Her family found out that she was interested in Yukido, and quickly did everything in their power to end the relationship. They forbid their daughter to see him on the grounds that she was too young, and that Yukido was from too poor of a heritage. And so, for the next three years Yukido and Nozumo were separated completely with the exception of the love letters they constantly wrote and sent to each other.

After three years, Yukido had already become a jounin and was more than old enough to choose a woman to court. He had become rather close to the current Tsuchikage, and thus his social status had elevated considerably. Seeing this as his opportunity to once again court Nozumo, Yukido asked her father for permission to see her. He was granted permission, and thus began to court her. After two years, Yukido finally married Mizu.

Yet, immediately after their honeymoon, Yukido was sent on an extended mission. He returned rather battered, and the intense mission had made him realize that his life could be ended at any moment. Yukido decided to embrace the time he had left and began giving as much of his attention to his wife as he could. Over the next six years, she bour him three children, two girls and one boy. Kizuato was the boy, and was born last as the youngest child.

His Squalid Childhood

Born as the youngest of three children and the only boy, Kizuato's father put a great deal of pressure on the boy to succeed. As soon as he could walk, Kizu was bought through exercises that might be deemed cruel for a child his age. These activities tested and helped to increase his strength, speed, balance, and resolve. And yet in these first few years of Kizuato's life, his father was never pleased. Although Kizuato was rather exceptional, he still was nowhere near as skillful as his father for his age.

While his father was never proud of his child, but rather constantly distant and unappeased, Kizu's mother was the opposite. She always told her child that she was proud, so long as there was something to be proud of. She encouraged him and gave him rewards and praise. And yet, Kizuato himself was not satisfied. He had Nozu's approval, but he could never get Yukido's approval. It was hard on him, and his first few years were very confusing because of this.

Kizuato struggled frequently to prove himself to his father. He worked on his skills so he could enter the ninja academy early like Yukido did, and he did everything in his power in the meantime to increase his own talents. His sisters, Ina and Shazai, supported him every step of the way. They made Kizuato food, went to the blacksmith to buy him training weapons, and constantly were with him when he needed help or support. What support he lacked from his father, his mother and sisters strove to make up for, and yet they could never fully make up the gap.

Naturally, Kizuato lived in a rather decent household due to his mother's name. They had a good deal of money, and Kizuato and his sisters were cared for by servants in addition to their mother. When their father was around, he stayed aloof and disinterested in his children for the most part, especially Kizuato. Beyond just training, Kizuato would often purposefully cause trouble just to get attention from his father. It sometimes worked, which just reinforced the habit more.

Although the Third Shinobi War hadn't broken out yet, it was going to start soon. The different shinobi villages, especially Iwagakure, were bulking up their militaries in preparation for the upcoming war. Some villages led the increase in military power, such as Iwagakure. Other villages, like Konohagakure, were only increasing their military strength in response to villages like Iwa, in case they would get attacked.

In this race for military might, Iwagakure started pushing children to enter the ninja academy more frequently than normal. Both of Kizuato's sisters entered the academy by the time they were eight years old. Kizu himself tried to enter when he was 5, but he was deemed too young and inexperienced, which was to the disapproval of his father, since Yukido had entered at only 5 years old. Kizuato continued to strive and work hard, and was accepted into the ninja academy the next year, at 6 years old.

Floundering at the Academy

Now that Kizuato was a ninja at the academy, he was trying harder than ever to impress his father. He felt that this was his true opportunity to show that he was talented. But his father was rarely home; the great shinobi villages were on the verge of war and Yukito was frequently out on recon missions, gathering information on the strengths and weaknesses of the other villages. It had grown obvious that Iwagakure was mobilizing for war in every aspect of their society. Defenses were being fortified, ninjas were being sent out on more missions, and Iwagakure had become much less trusting of immigrants.

Finally, the Third Shinobi War broke out. Iwa sent its armies against Konoha near the start of the war, beginning the rivalry with Konoha that would last for many years. During this time, Iwagakure pushed its students far harder than normal. It was unknown how long the war would last, and the current Tsuchikage wanted to ensure that any ninjas that graduated from the academy would be immediately ready to fight in the war. Iwagakure was putting all of its resources toward defeating Konoha, and it was winning.

Not only had Iwagakure attacked Konoha, but it was also attacking Kusagakure. The battle against Kusagakure went much better than the battle against Konoha, and Iwa quickly invaded and overran Kusagakure. Emboldened by this victory, the Tsuchikage wanted put even more effort behind their attacks against Konoha. We wanted to expand Iwa and make it the greatest force in the world.

Under these pressures and stresses, Kizuato trained and learned each day. Even though school hours had been increased by nearly 30% since the beginning of the war, Kizuato trained at home as well. He would do anything to impress his father, but since he was out of the village, Kizu decided to impress the village itself. By impressing them, he'd surely impress his father. The current Tsuchikage already knew Kizuato, since Yukito was a close friend of the Tsuchikage, but the kage had never really cared too much about Kizu. He was determined to change that.

But, even in the stress of a world at war, common elements still prevailed in Iwa's ninja academy. After a scuffle one day at school, Kizuato because enemies with an older student named Juko. Juko had a lot of friends, while Kizuato had relatively few because he focused entirely on his training. Although Kizuato was relatively skilled, he wasn't a prodigy like his father. When Juko and his friends teamed up on Kizuato, he couldn't fight back well enough and frequently got pummeled.

This went on for several years, and Kizuato did his best to avoid Juko when he had his friends around. But one day when Kizuato was about 8 and a half, the beating was the worst. He had grown less and less encouraged as time had gone by; Juko and his group not only physically hurt him, but verbally as well. As usual, Kizuato received no support from his father, and his mother was too busy helping the war effort to help him. Both his sisters had graduated by now, and were busy fighting in the war.

On his own, with no support, Kizuato's self-esteem began to plummet. He started to not care about his training, and eventually forsook it altogether. Beatings became almost daily, and Kizu rarely fought back anymore. Finally, he stopped going to school, giving up entirely. He no longer cared to be a ninja; to him, it seemed like nobody actually cared about him. Why strive to be better when nobody will even care about it?

For two months, Kizuato just stayed home and burried himself in empty misery. But one day he was woken up from this state; his father was brought back in a terrible state. Medical ninja operated on him for several days under the careful watch of the Tsuchikage, trying to keep him alive. But there was no hope; Yukito had lost both legs and one arm, and would never be able to be a ninja again even if he did recover. He was paralyzed below the neck, so the one working arm he did have couldn't even be used.

Kizuato was devastated. Sure, his father had never cared about him, but Kizuato had always loved his father. He had always strived to impress the man, and now Yukito was going to die! Yukito summoned his son to his deathbed so they could speak together. In these last few months, Yukito apologized for everything; for his distance and aloofness, and for never displaying his pride in his child. He told Kizuato that it was not true; Yukito had always been proud of the man Kizuato was growing up to be. He just had never shown it, because he was worried that Kizuato would grow too prideful and stop striving for the best. One final time, Yukito apologized, then he passed on to the afterlife.

What before had been devastation in Kizuato transformed itself into blinding fury. Not at his father, but at his father's death. This man who had loved his child, this man who had been his father . . . He was now dead. Kizuato swore on his father's grave that he would become as good of a ninja as his father was; that he would bring honor to his father, his village, and his clan. And so Kizuato resumed his training with renewed intensity, and graduated from the academy at 11 years old as a Gennin.

The First Milestone

Now that he was a Gennin, Kizuato would be pulled right into the Third Shinobi War. Placed on a team with two other Gennin named Shushuo and Uure, and they were placed under command of a Jounin named Kusibara. Of course, Kusibara knew he couldn't just take the Gennin straight into war; he had to test them and make sure they deserved their ranks, first. Kusibara would see how skilled they truly were. He could've used the cliche bell test, but he decided on something much more dangerous.

Kusibara led his Gennin into one of the most dangerous mountain ranged in the Earth Country, telling them that he was taking them on a mission. He had some fellow ninja from Iwa disguise themselves as enemy ninjas and attack the group. Kusibara faked his death and left the group of Gennin "abandoned" in the mountains. In reality, he was closely watching them the entire time. At first the group was confused and frightened. Shushuo had an injury from the battle, and Uure just completely panicked. It all seemed rather hopeless . . .

Until Kizuato stood up. He helped bandage Shushuo's injury and reassured Uure, then began working with them to devise a plan to get out of the mountains and back to Iwagakure, where they'd be safe. With few other choices, they cremated the body of their sensei (little did they know that it was actually fake) and prepared for a difficult trip. The mountains were filled with giant snakes, bears, and other creatures that could tear apart a lesser shinobi with ease.

Over the next few days, the gennin troop made their way through the mountains. They had difficulty finding food that wasn't poisonous, and were almost constantly hungry and dehydrated. They stumbled upon a multitude of giant animals, all of which they tried to escape from or avoid. But they were reaching the border of the mountains and were almost to safe ground once more.

Kusibara noticed that they were passing his test much more easily than he had expected. He knew he had to make it more difficult. So he disguised himself and ambushed his gennin squad multiple times, each time attacking them and causing new injuries. Their progress slowed, but they still finally made it out of the mountains. As a fight test, Kusibara attacked once more and fought with much less mercy. He pushed the group to their extreme limits, and almost killed Shushuo. Kizuato saved Shushuo from several kunais tagged with explosive tags with Dooryu Jouheki - Earth Style Rampart. He had been in the process of learning the move, but still wasn't very good at it. Using it almost took all of Kizuato's chakra. Then Uure used a jutsu to trap Kusibara just long enough for Kizuato to use Retsudo Tenshou - Revolving Split Earth Palm, allowing him to seemingly defeat the enemy ninja.

Then their foe revealed himself to be Kusibara. It was true, the Gennin team had done so well that they had actually injured Kusibara pretty well. Still, the Jounin was proud of them and told them that they had passed. Together, they finished the journey back to Iwagakure and they all rested for about a month before being dispatched out to fight in the Shinobi War.

Kizuato and his team were assigned to the force that was responsible for waging war against Konohagakure. Most of their missions were simple and less dangerous; the equivalent of C or D rank missions during peace times. These included fighting off small groups of militia and unskilled fighters, spying on political talks, and sometimes even poisoning the meals of an army.

But as the war progressed, things grew more desparate. Iwagakure was winning against Konoha, pushing them back all the way to Konoha's border, but then the war became more difficult. Neither side had enough resources to keep up its efforts, and both sides were taking heavy casualties. Kizuato and his team were forced to take increasingly difficult missions as Iwagakure lost quite a few of its more advanced ninja.

Eventually, Kizuato and his team were sent on an A rank mission that in peace time they would never have been assigned. But they were the most capable team that was available to take the mission at the time, so there was no other choice. The mission involved Kizuato and his team spying on a group of enemy lieutenants during their meeting, then ambushing one especially important shinobi on his way back to camp. The first part of the mission went well, but the latter was a disaster. The enemy ninja was an incredibly skillful Raiton user, and thus had a natural advantage as the majority of Kizuato's team used Doton. During the battle, everyone on the team except Uure was badly injured. Uure was killed by a burst of lightning. The others only escaped from the battle because of an expert technique pulled off by Kusibara.

The war between Konoha and Iwa ended shortly after the failed mission. Konoha was on the verge of collapse under the pressure of Iwagakure's assault. In their desperation, they blew up the Kannabi Bridge which was vital to Iwagakure because it brought their troops vital resources. After this, Konoha was able to push back Iwa's assault and eventually both countries agreed to sign a peace treaty.

Kizuato and his team returned to their village. A new ninja was quickly assigned to their team - Kukia. She was quick witted and a taijutsu specialist, and made an excellent addition to the team. Kizuato was now 14 and eager to increase his rank. The Third Great Shinobi War was finally over, and the Chunnin Exams were being resumed. Kusibara enrolled his team in the Chunnin Exams.

The first round of the Chuunin Exams made Kizuato nauseous. When he thought he would fail because he couldn't answer the near impossible questions, he almost panicked. Kizuato caught ahold of himself, though, and forced himself to calm down. Using the Kekkai Genkai of his clan, Kizuato diverted his chakra to his sense of touch. Luckily, one of the "fakes" had been placed at his table, and he could sense the motions of that person's pencil and discern the answers from that. Kizuato managed to answer 6 questions in that manner. At the end, Kizuato was left furious when he discovered that it wouldn't have mattered whether he had answered all ten or none, but he was happy that he and his team would be allowed to continue on to the next stage of the exams.

The second stage of the Chuunin Exams were much more difficult. Because Kukia was the best ninja at close range combat in their team, Kizuato and Shushuo entrusted her with their Scroll of Heaven. They were ambushed, though, and the scroll was stolen from Kukia when she was double-teamed by two taijutsu specialists from Konohagakure. This only furthered the rage that Kizuato already held toward Konoha.

For two days, Kizuato's team tried to find other teams and steal their scrolls, though they repeatedly failed. Finally, when they were coming to the end of the time allowed for the Chuunin Exams, Kizuato heard the approach of another squad while he was alone hunting for food. Not having the time to find his own teammates, Kizuato resolved to attack the enemy team on his own. He used the Two Points of Nausea on one foe to temporarily disable them, then used Doton ninjutsu to disorient and confuse the team. Kizuato stole their Scroll of Heaven and escaped before they could effectively chase him.

After returning to his team, Kizuato knew that they still faced a predicament. He once again entrusted Kukia with the scroll, believing that she'd do better this time, and prepared his team to search for a Scroll of Earth. After a good deal of preparation, Kizuato and his team set a trap for another team. They ambushed this team, practically destroyed the less strong ninja of the team, and stole their Scroll of Heaven. Now that they had two of the same scroll, the traded another needy team one of their scrolls for a Scroll of Earth. Then they went to the tower and barely finished the challenge in time.

A total of only 3 teams passed that year's second stage of the Chuunin Exam. Of the 9 ninja on those teams, 1 withdrew from the final challenge, which was Shushuo. Kizuato knew that he would fight up to 3 opponents, and spent his month of preparation time gathering as much information on his enemies as possible. Back before he was blind, he not only had eidetic memory, but photographic as well. Kizuato spied on his potential enemies and learned as much as he could about them, and the knowledge he gained ended up proving invaluable in his later battles.

Kizuato's first battle was relatively easy, and he wasn't even forced to resort to his most difficult techniques. He beat the Kirigakure ninja whom he had to face quickly, impressing the nobles watching the battle. His second battle was worse; it was against Kukia, and he was uncertain about it. She was too, but she was still merciless. Ultimately, Kizuato won, though not without sustaining some injuries. He was now in the finals of the chuunin exam. His battle was against a Konoha ninja from the Hyuuga clan. Kizuato poured out all of his hate of Konoha out against his opponent, and ultimately won by using his Three Points of Chaos to disorient his foe and then finishing them with a series of brutal Doton Ninjutsu attacks.

Because Kizuato had won first place in the Chuunin Exams, there was no question as to whether to actually appoint him to the rank or not. He gained the rank, and quite a bit of prestige along with it. The Tsuchikage was quite impressed and wondered how the young, hopeless child of earlier had grown so powerful. Kizuato's Chuunin years would be extremely busy thanks to the prestige his victories had brought him.

Innovation as a Chunnin

Kizuato was now 14 and finally beginning to enter manhood. Besides his growing skill and significance as a ninja, the following few years would focus on a few things in particular. The first would be his growing friendship with the Tsuchikage, the second his increasing reputation and skill as a leader, and the final being the bare beginnings of his love life.

After his excellent performance at the Chuunin Exams, the current Tsuchikage took a vested interest in Kizuato's development, especially since the Tsuchikage had once been a friend of Yukito. Kizuato and the Tsuchikage would take long walks throughout Iwagakure and would hike through the mountains surrounding the village, discussing politics and military tactics. During these talks, Yukito learned a great deal about military strategies and what was going on throughout the shinobi world. The Tsuchikage also helped him to master some of his Doton Ninjutsu, and they occasionally played Go. The Tsuchikage usually won, but Kizuato grew better each time they played, and eventually he even won occasionally.

With his new reputation and level of skill, Kizuato was frequently sent on more difficult missions than in the past. He would often lead other Chuunin in a group of three for larger missions, and Kizuato was happy that he was often placed in the same group as Shushuo, who had also been elevated to Chuunin level. These missions were often difficult and dangerous, and netted Kizuato a variety of injuries and scars.

They also brought Kizuato something else. On one such mission, he had to escort a young noblewoman through dangerous territory around Kusigakure. During this time, he and the young woman, whose name was Urami, developed crushes on each other. After the mission was over, he and Urami began to date, though he was frequently off on missions and thus couldn't spend as much time on her as she would've liked.

One thing that really began to catch Kizu's interest around this time was Fuuinjutsu. It interested him almost as much as his new girlfriend, and he began to learn the more intricate details of this ninja art. Before he had known a few basics, but not enough to really be extremely efficient in it. Still, it had helped quite a bit. But now he began learning the more advanced Fuuinjutsu techniques, and began trying innovative new ways to use Fuuinjutsu quickly and efficiently. It wasn't a very easy type of jutsu to use in combat, and Kizu wanted to fix that.

It was during one solo mission that Kizu realized how he could use fuuinjutsu more easily. The idea came from something interesting; Kizuato had stopped at a local store to buy some food. When he had asked for cheese, the store owner grated some for him. The cheese grater itself provided inspiration for how Kizuato could more easily create signs and acquire ink for his Fuuinjutsu.

Just like how the cheese slid threw the grater in slivers, if Kizuato could find a way to pump ink out of his hands in small amounts, he could use it. The best ink in that case would be blood, especially since that would allow him to do summoning jutsu more easily as well. When he returned to his village, he gave a request to the Tsuchikage. At first the Tsuchikage resisted, but after a long time of debate he decided to allow it. Kizuato underwent a surgery that linked the pores on his hand to his bloodstream and also created several articifical pores, thus allowing him to force himself to bleed by focusing his own chakra. It hurt at first, but repeated practice eventually dulled the pain.

In the meantime, Kizuato's relationship with Urami grew a bit more intimate. They were closer together and often enjoyed each others' company, but at times Kizuato grew a bit bored. Urami was not a fool, but she certainly didn't meet his intellect. She couldn't grasp the game of Go very well, and politics often bored her. It grew increasingly difficult to maintain a good conversation, though neither of them gave up on the relationship just yet. Kizuato just figured they were going through a rough spot.

While his relationship with his girlfriend continued to decline, Kizuato's relationship with the Tsuchikage continued to improve. They both consulted each other on major choices, and Kizuato almost took on the form of one of the Tsuchikage's lesser advisors. Eventually, the Tsuchikage decided that it was time Kizuato go on a truly difficult mission. This mission was originally going to be reserved for Jounin only, as it was S rank mission, but the Tsuchikage decided that Kizuato was skilled enough to go on the mission. He wouldn't be allowed to lead though; he would be part of a team of 5.

The other ninja on the team were hesitant to allow a Chuunin to accompany them on such an advanced mission, but they had no other choice as it was commanded by the Tsuchikage. So they journeyed across the mountains to find a group of powerful missing ninja who were running raids on Iwagakure's caravans that went out to the other villages of the Earth Country. The beginning of the mission went relatively well, with a seemingly successful infiltration of the missing ninjas' secret hideout. But things quickly turned sour.

It turned out that missing ninja knew about the group all along. The lead Jounin of the team instructed them to fight to the death like an honorable Iwagakure ninja would. Kizuato did plan to fight to the death, but he had different plans. Rather than sit around with his fellow ninja and get pointlessly slaughtered, Kizuato used Mole Hiding Technique to escape, then traveled rapidly underground and attacked the Missing Nin leader one on one. Thanks to the element of surprise, Kizuato was able to quickly dispatch their leader. After the Missing Nin leader died, the organization fell into chaos and a huge battle errupted. Kizuato's team came out victorious, though they were all badly injured and one even died.

When Kizuato returned to Iwagakure, he received a hero's welcome from everyone but his girlfriend. She was furious because he could've died on that mission, and because he now had so little time for her. She felt ignored and unimportant. They got in a huge argument that ended with Kizuato breaking up with her. He felt guilty and sorrowful for a few days, but quickly came to terms with his decision. He deemed it as necessary, since she was preventing him from pursuing his dream of becoming a truly legendary ninja.

Kizuato was given a few days of rest, and then he was called in by the Tsuchikage. Although his maneuver had brought his team victory, it had also been in violation of a direct order from his Jounin leader. Because of that, Kizuato had to be punished. He was told that he would be given 30 lashes by a whip, but that wasn't all. Despite the fact that he had disobeyed, his idea had won them the battle. He was now 18 years old, and the Tsuchikage decided that it was time for him to test for Jounin.

The lashes were the most painful things Kizuato had ever experienced. He was strung up by his arms and forced to endure 30 of them on his back, which left it a raw and bloody mess. He still has scars from these lashes to this day. Kizuato was given a month to recover and prepare for his Jounin exam, and then he would meet the Tsuchikage for the exam in the mountain range that surrounds Iwagakure.

WHen the day came, Kizuato met the Tsuchikage as planned. Much to his surprise, he learned that for his exam he was to fight the Tsuchikage himself. The battle was difficult and the Tsuchikage was merciless, but Kizuato fought to the best of his ability. His back was still badly injured, but he managed to partially seal the Tsuchikage's chakra, which allowed him to ultimately win the battle. At the end, the Tsuchikage expressed his pride in Kizuato's growth, and granted Kizuato the rank of Jounin.

Growth, Pain, and the Jounin Years

Now that he was a Jounin, Kizuato had a load of new responsibilities. Beyond his normal missions and growing influence in the village, the Tsuchikage had chosen Kizuato as his successor. Now Kizuato had to deal with a host of new political issues, including meetings with other kages, managing issues, and giving a lot of more official advice to the kage.

Kizuato was assigned with his own Gennin troop, though he failed them. He failed three groups in total before finally finding a group that satisfied him. Together, he and his group completed a series of missions of increasing intensity. Kizuato pushed his Gennin to their limit, constantly testing and training them to the point of near unconsciousness. But he never took it too far; just far enough to increase their strength and potential. They all took the Chuunin exam after being trained by Kizuato for 2 years, and two of them passed that year. The last one passed the next year.

All in all, the first few years of being a Jounin were actually some of the most uneventful of Kizuato's life. He went on a number of missions, helped train many of the village's ninja, and had a variety of failed relationships. Despite the failures at love, his reputation as a strong leader and successful ninja only grew in his village, especially now that it was common knowledge that he would be the Tsuchikage's successor.

Things wouldn't always be so simple, though. When Kizuato was around 21 years old, a monstrous 5-tailed Bijuu rampaged through his village. It was a Bijuu of flame, and the colossal beast tore through his village easily. The Tsuchikage and his fellow ninja couldn't stop the beast, and during its rampage the monstrous creature killed Kizuato's mother and one of his two sisters.

Blinded with rage, Kizuato did not wait for the Tsuchikage to make a team of expert ninja to fight the beast. Instead, he chased the 5-tailed Bijuu on his own to fight it. When he caught up to the Bijuu, he engaged it in a truly epic battle. During the battle Kizuato was gravely wounded multiple times. Ultimately, the 5-tailed fire Bijuu used its powerful flames to burn away Kizuato's eyes and upper face, leaving him blind. In deperation, he unleashed a Fuuinjutsu seal and sealed Bijuu within a small blue stone. The seal barely made its mark, and then Kizuato passed out.

He woke up in a surprisingly dark room. There were voices outside the room, and Kizuato quickly realized that he was in Iwagakure's hospital. A small pebble was in the pocket of the outfit he was wearing, although he couldn't see anything. He asked someone if they could turn on the lights, and that person remained silent. There was a click, and still everything was dark. That's when Kizuato began to grow fearful. He raised a hand to his face and found that it was covered in thick, cracking scabs. His eyelashes and eyebrows had been burned off, as well as a good portion of his hair. He was blind.

Everything seemed terrible now. Nobles pushed the Tsuchikage to change the man who would inherit his title to someone who wasn't blind, but he refused. He said that he believed in Kizuato. And that belief proved to be a strong motivation to the blind young man; he trained daily to master his other senses. Using the Kekkai Genkai of his clan, Kizuato was able to learn to follow his other senses relatively well, though he was still trapped in a single building for a while. He was distraught that he'd never be able to see again, but knew that he had to find a way past it. Kizuato trained daily with his Fuuinjutsu to learn to write the seals without the use of his eyes.

Finally, Kizuato became reinvolved with politics. He continued to train and train others, and his skill as a ninja began to return. He was now as strong, if not stronger, than any other Jounin in iwagakure, despite the fact that he could no longer see. No longer would anyone doubt his ability as a Jounin, nor would they doubt his capability of becoming the next Tsuchikage. He still has it to this day. And the day he would become a Tsuchikage came more quickly than he had expected . . .

The Scarred Lord

In Kizuato's twenty-third year, he endured the death of a friend closer to him than his father ever was. The pain was far worse, because the Tsuchikage actually had believed in Kizuato. The Tsuchikage had believed in Kizuato so much that it had motivated Kizuato to continue on as a ninja, even when others though his blindness would prevent him. After hearing the Tsuchikage's final words, which were about preserving the greatness that was Iwa and keeping it above all the other villages, the title of Tsuchikage was passed on to Kizuato.

The very first thing Kizu did as the new Tsuchikage was ensure the safety of the 5-tailed fire Bijuu sealed inside his pebble. He took the little blue pebble into a dense network of tunnels under Iwagakure and designed a complex safehouse to hold the pebble. The final step of the puzzles that unlock access to where the actual Bijuu is stored is a series of interlocking plates that can only be unlocked with a key that Kizuato keeps on his person at all times. After turning the key, a series of codes that only Kizuato knows then have to be entered.

Under his leadership, Iwagakure grew and prospered for many years. Although his leadership wasn't particularly kind or democratic, it was very efficient and successful. Kizuato put even more significance in bolstering Iwagakure's military the Tsuchikage before him had done. He knew that the only way to make Iwa truly great was to abolish the villages that apposed it, even if it was little by little. And though it might not happen in his life, Kizuato was determined to make the first step during his years as Tsuchikage.

But in recent years, the new Hokage, Amiya Chinatsu, created a peace treaty in which the other countries were all forced to enter upon. Kizuato was the last kage to sign the treaty, and he almost didn't. He wouldn't have signed the treaty if it wasn't that he couldn't risk war with all four of the other great shinobi villages at once. Still, that didn't stop Kizuato from pursuing his goals.

Many people wonder how the Iwa-Suna war actually started. Its believed that rising tensions between the two countries ultimately burst into conflict. In reality, Iwagakure made the first attack. Seeing Sunagakure as the weakest of the five great shinobi villages, Kizuato led his troops in the middle of the night in a blitz-like attack against the Wind Country's borders. The attack was largely successful, and gave Iwa an advantage throughout the war. Still, Suna managed to fight back with surprising fury.

Altogether, Iwagakure was definitely winning. The other three countries were furious that Iwa and Suna had broken off the treaty, and neither Iwa nor Suna had a very strong economy. In fact, both countries got a good number of their resources from Kumo, since it had the greatest economy of the five great shinobi villages. Kumo swiftly cut off trade with Iwa and Suna because they had broken the treaty. Despite that they were now practically starving, neither Iwa nor Suna made a move to end conflicts.

As the way dragged on and months passed by, the season slowly turned to summer. Iwagakure had pushed deep into Wind Country territory by now, but they were unprepared for the severity of Suna's summer. Their army crippled under the might of the sun, and Suna, despite having much fewer numbers, managed to overwhelm Iwagakure's armies through guerilla tactics. Ultimately, Iwa was forced back to the border. Then Suna asked for a peace treaty, and Kizuato reluctantly agreed. This war was clearly going nowhere.

The war ended only a few months ago, and now Iwagakure is already bulking up its armies yet again. The other shinobi villages are growing nervous, as it seems like Kizuato intends to attack yet again. Yet, they also believe he isn't foolish enough to try attacking one of the great shinobi villages after a failed atempt; rather, many people believe that Kizuato might send his forced to conquer the lesser ninja villages, such as Kusagakure, Otagakure, and other such villages.

Summoning Ninjutsu

Spoiler:

Physical Description: The snakes are generally of a similar color and texture to stone, taking on dull brown and gray colors. The exact pattern often varies, though it typically never gets too crazy, and is often a series of diamonds along the snake's back. The snakes that Kizuato summons have thicker fangs than normal snakes, though they are just as long. Their heads are broad and give them a more bulky appearance. The snakes range in size depending on the amount of chakra Kizuato puts into the summoning technique, and range from a few inches to dozens of yards.

Summon Requirements: A varying amount of chakra depending on the size of the snake. Certain named snakes, especially the more powerful ones, require varying numbers of human sacrifices. Kizuato usually avoids summoning these ones, unless he offers prisoners of war as the sacrifices. The snakes always require a standard offering of blood, for the summoning, which can easily be supplied when Kizuato forces his palms to bleed.

Species: Snake

Rank: D - A

Story: N/A

Special Characteristics: Sometimes the larger snakes are extremely durable, even more durable and strong than their size would suggest, and all of the snakes often have an extremely potent biotoxic venom that causes nausea, fever, and ultimately death, and also causes infections. The venom is treatable, though, and proper antiseptics can prevent any infections as well.

Elemental Affinity: Usually none, though sometimes the summoned snake will have an affinity toward Doton.

Clan: Hontoosuru

Jutsu: None of the snakes that Kizuato normally summons have the ability to use jutsu.

Possibly, except its fire and doesn't mold when I move, or move away with me to block attacks. It always maintains a standard distance from my body, and maintains a constant shape around me that only bends with me. It won't suddenly lash out at someone five feet away; they have to be closer. So, in the end, it's not really that much like Gaara's sand.
